Amanda and her Akubra Ute, turning heads right across Australia
Monday 23 January 2006

Amanda Polonski Amanda and her ute This is Amanda Polonski from Canberra, a real outdoor girl if ever there was one and the centre of a new strategy by AKUBRA to market its products to young people.

AKUBRA recognised the popularity of Australia’s Ute circuit and the whole Ute culture and wanted a presence.

After all, many of the Ute enthusiasts (and the majority of them are young), wear AKUBRAS but there is still a huge market in this growing area of interest.
Utility shows have become huge in Australia with the recent Deniliquin (N.S.W.) Muster attracting 6172 Utes breaking the 2004 official Guinness World record by 2160 Utes. Now, that’s a serious market.

Amanda, a good, wholesome, caring Aussie girl in every sense of the word, fits perfectly into the Ute culture and AKUBRA’S marketing plan.

To start with she is blonde, blue eyed, 29, owns her own Ute with the most serious bull bar you have ever seen and is never without her AKUBRA when she is outdoors.

She is prepared to travel thousands of kilometres to attend a Ute show and has won awards with her red hot Holden, even before the AKUBRA signage went on. Now that the AKUBRA signage has been completed Amanda’s Ute draws an incredible amount of attention at every show she attends.

And her AKUBRA Ute is now officially recognised among the top 100 Utes in Australia after judging at Deniliquin was completed.

Amanda's Ute Amanda's Ute “The Deniliquin Ute show is unique,” Amanda said. “There were all types and models of Utes ranging from a 1948 Austin Pick Up owned by an A.C.T. couple to a sharp 2004 Ford XR8, with matching trailer.”

Once Amanda gets to a show and has the Ute parked she hands out AKUBRA promotional material and talks about the range of AKUBRA merchandise.

On a professional level Amanda is a Disability Support Manager, managing residential group houses and providing direct care to intellectually disabled adults.

The theme at the Deniliquin Ute Muster was “Play On The Plains” and the thousands of utility enthusiasts who turned up certainly did that.

Amanda said the entertainment was brilliant ranging from locals to Lee Kernaghan, complete with his AKUBRA.

Planning is already under way for next year’s Deniliquin Muster on September 29 and 30 with plans to try and break the world record again.
