A CALL TO AUSTRALIA CAMPAIGN 2026
1. Campaign
(a) This campaign (Campaign) is being run by Akubra Hats Pty Ltd (ABN 62 000 175 333) (we, us, our).
(b) If any person (you, your) submits an entry as part of the Campaign, then their submission is subject to these terms and conditions (Terms).
2. Eligibility
(a) To enter the Campaign, you must:
(i) be 18 years of age or older;
(ii) be an Australian resident; and
(iii) complete the entry requirements set out in clause 3 below.
(b) Our staff and their immediate family members are eligible to enter the Campaign.
3. Entry requirements
(a) To enter the Campaign, you must complete the submission form available on our website (akubra.com.au) during the Campaign Period and provide the requested information. This information includes:
(i) a written story about your Akubra hat (hat), which must not exceed the maximum word count noted in the submission form; and
(ii) at least four (4) photographs of your hat, as per the photo requirements noted in the submission form.
(b) You may only submit one entry per Akubra hat. You may submit multiple entries if each entry relates to a different hat.
(c) By submitting an entry, you warrant that:
(i) the information, story, photos and other content you provide are original, accurate and do not infringe the rights (including intellectual property) of any third party; and
(ii) you own the hat which is included in your entry, and have the right to donate that hat to us (see section 7 below).
(d) Incomplete, illegible, or misleading entries may be deemed invalid at our sole discretion.
4. Campaign Period
(a) The Campaign begins at 9:00am (AEDT) on Tuesday, 17 March 2026 and ends at 11:59pm (AEST) on Sunday 2 August 2026 (Campaign Period).
(b) Entries submitted outside the Campaign Period will not be accepted.
5. Selected Entries
(a) We may selected up to one hundred and fifty (150) entries as part of the Campaign (Selected Entries).
(b) Selected Entries will be chosen based on factors including, but not limited to:
(i) the age and endurance of the hat;
(ii) the strength, originality and/or significance of the story submitted;
(iii) the history or character of the hat; and
(iv) overall alignment of the entry with the heritage and spirit of Akubra.
(c) Selection is at our sole discretion, and our decision is final.
(d) Part of the selection process will involve verifying the hat’s authenticity and condition. Hats that are in poor condition (for example, if they are mouldy). General wear, patina, and normal signs of use are acceptable.
6. Notification of Selected Entrants
(a) If you submit a Selected Entry (which makes you a Selected Entrant), then we will contact you directly using the contact details provided in your entry.
(b) Notifications will be sent via email from online@akubra.com.au by 5:00pm (AEST) on Monday 31 August 2026.
(c) If we are unable to contact a Selected Entrant within five (5) days, we reserve the right to select an alternative entry.
7. Hat donation
(a) If you are a Selected Entrant, then you must donate the hat included in your entry to us. For clarity, this means the ownership of your hat will transfer from you to us (i.e. we will not return your hat to you) and we will not pay you for the donation (see section 9 below). The purpose of taking these donations is so we can compile a collection of the most iconic hats in Australia, which may be used in the manner set out in section 8 below.
(b) Each Selected Entrant must ship their hat to the Akubra Workshop (89 South St, Kempsey, NSW, Australia) by mid-September 2026. We will provide Selected Entrants with detailed guidance regarding packaging, postage, and delivery deadlines after their selection.
(c) We will take all reasonable care of the hats which are donated to us as part of the Campaign. However, you acknowledge that we will have no liability to you if your hat is lost, stolen or otherwise damaged at any time after you post it to us (including in transit).
8. Use of entry content and hats
(a) By entering the Campaign, you grant Akubra a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferrable, sub-licensable, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, publish, display, edit and communicate your submitted story, photographs, name and any associated content (collectively entry content) for promotional, editorial, marketing, or exhibition purposes. This licence applies regardless of whether you are a Selected Entrant.
(b) For clarity, the above licence permits the use of your entry content across digital platforms, social media, advertising, publications (whether newspapers, books, magazines, television shows, documentaries, films or otherwise), exhibitions (whether in museums, retail stores, public events, brand activations, installations or otherwise), or other media, whether associated with us, our permitted sub-licensees or our permitted assigns.
(c) You acknowledge that we may also use and display your hat in the same manner as your entry content, noting ownership of your hat will have transferred to us in accordance with section 7 above.
9. No payment
You acknowledge that you will not receive any payment from us (whether by way of prize, fee, royalty, compensation or otherwise) for your involvement in the Campaign, including if you are a Selected Entrant. For clarity, this means that we will not make any payment to you for the hat you donate to us (as per section 7 above) or the licence you grant to us (as per section 8 above).
10. Personal information
To the extent we collect any personal information as part of the Campaign, we will use that information in accordance with the licence granted in accordance with section 8 above and our Privacy Policy (which is available on our website).
11. General terms
(a) Amendments: Subject to applicable laws, we reserve the right to amend these Terms where necessary, including to address any misinterpretation, misinformation, or misunderstanding.
(b) Governing law: These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales. The New South Wales courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes in relation to these Terms.
(c) Disputes: In the event of a dispute relating to the Campaign (including these Terms), our decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
(d) Disqualification: We may disqualify any entrant if we reasonably believe the entrant has breached these Terms or engaged in unlawful or improper conduct.
(e) Cancellation: Subject to applicable laws, we reserve the right to cancel or suspend the Campaign at any time.
(f) Further assurances: you must do all things reasonably necessary to give effect to the transaction documented in these Terms, including signing any documents reasonably required to evidence the transfer of the ownership of your hat if you are a Selected Entrant.
(g) Social media: The Campaign is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook, or any other social media platform.
