WORN BY LEGENDS

The Old West hat style is defined by its curled or “shacked” brim, a look strongly associated with Australian bush hats and outback culture.

More than just a design detail, the upturned sides serve a practical purpose, keeping the hat secure while riding through scrub, working on the land, or facing strong winds, while also allowing for better visibility and freedom of movement. Among Aussie stockmen, ringers, and bushmen, the brim shape often reflects personal style, regional tradition, and years of experience. Over time, this curled brim has evolved into an iconic symbol of rural Australia, representing resilience, independence, and a no-nonsense spirit shaped by life on the land.

It’s this same essence that defines Bob Holder, Australia’s oldest competing rodeo cowboy, whose story embodies the heritage and enduring character of the outback.
