Born and raised in the Adelaide Hills, Liam is the kind of bloke who’ll bottle-feed lambs at sunrise and be on a photo shoot in Sydney by sundown. When we spotted the raw honesty in his farm-life videos, we knew he was the real deal—the perfect fit to represent the new generation of Akubra.

By day, Liam works at Hahndorf Farm Barn in South Australia, where no two days are the same. One morning it’s milking dairy cows, the next it’s wrestling with buckets, fixing fences, or sharing breakfast with a bearded dragon. “The first animal I say good morning to? Baz the Bearded Dragon, who sits at the door.” From there it’s straight into the buzz of barn life: baby chicks getting chirpy at first light, hungry lambs bottle-fed with warm milk, and a few characters like Rumpelsnakeskin, Pumpkin, and Mr Bitey—the farm’s resident reptiles.

If there’s one animal that’s stolen his heart (and his hat), it’s Bill the Buffalo. With a big personality and a love for summer swims, Bill became an internet sensation after appearing in videos diving into dams—often with Liam not far behind. “Buffalo Bill definitely trod on my first Akubra… more than once.” It’s more than a job—it’s a bond. So much so that Bill’s portrait is tattooed on Liam’s forearm, a permanent tribute to the buffalo who started it all.

Liam didn’t start out wearing one. “I was the only one not wearing an Akubra… I felt out of place.” He picked up a black Coober Pedy, complete with an opal in the band. That first hat saw it all—milk spills, mud dives, and even a few hungry goats. It wore the story of the land with pride. A few years later, Liam found his signature style in the Rough Rider. “Bit more like a statement piece.” Today, he has two: one for work, and one for city life. The Sand version stays clean, styled with a denim jacket and boots for nights out. One rule stays the same: no sneakers..

On the farm, it’s all about function. In the city, it’s about elevated style. Either way, denim plays a starring role. “Denim always goes so well with Akubra.” Creams, blacks, blues—every wash of denim seems to pair effortlessly with a brim built to last.
